Tiles Survive! is a survival strategy game that mixes base building, resource management, and hero collection into one package. It is developed by FunPlus International AG, and you can grab it on android through google play as well as on iOS via the App Store. The download is free, and once you install the app, you can jump straight in without paying anything upfront. That said, there are in game purchases, and honestly, they can add up quickly if you are not careful. I have seen packs ranging from a couple of bucks to around twenty dollars or more for bigger bundles of gems and resources. There are also ads, though they are mostly optional, like watching a short video for a speed boost or extra loot. It is a pure mobile game, so do not expect a pc or console version on steam, xbox, or switch. As far as I know, it launched fairly recently, and the install count is already in the millions on google play, which says a lot about how many people are giving it a shot.

Playing Tiles Survive! is pretty straightforward at first. You start with a small patch of land, and you expand by clearing fog and unlocking tiles. Each tile gives you resources like wood, food, or stone, and you have to balance what you build and where. You also recruit heroes and send them out to fight zombies and other threats. The best part for me is the tile clearing loop. It feels satisfying to reveal a new area and figure out what to do with it. My favorite moment is when I finally get a strong hero and watch them shred through a group of enemies that used to give me trouble. It is the kind of game where you log in for a few minutes, do your daily tasks, and then come back later. The app is easy to install, and I had it running on my android phone in under a minute.

Compared to other survival games like State of Survival or Last Shelter, Tiles Survive! feels a bit more relaxed. Those games throw a lot at you with huge tech trees and alliance drama. This one keeps things simpler, and the tile based map is a nice change from the usual grid base. I recommend it because it does not demand hours of your day to feel like you are making progress. State of Survival has more depth in its combat, and Last Shelter has a bigger world, but Tiles Survive! hits a sweet spot for casual players. If you want something you can pick up, play for ten minutes, and put down without feeling behind, this is a solid choice. Just keep an eye on those in app purchases, because the game does nudge you toward spending.

Features

  • Tile based exploration 🗺️ - You clear fog and unlock new tiles one by one, which makes every session feel like a small discovery instead of a grind.
  • Hero collection and upgrades 🦸 - You gather heroes with different skills and level them up, and unlike State of Survival where hero shards can feel impossible to get, here the pace is more forgiving.
  • Base building with a twist 🏠 - Your base grows on the tile map itself, so you are not stuck in a separate screen like in Last Shelter, and that makes the world feel more connected.
  • Idle friendly progression ⏳ - Resources keep ticking even when you are offline, which is great for people who cannot babysit the app all day.

Pros

  • Easy to pick up 👍 - The tutorial walks you through everything, and I did not feel lost even on day one, which is more than I can say for State of Survival.
  • Good pacing for casual players ⚖️ - You can make real progress in short bursts, and the daily tasks do not feel like a second job.
  • Solid tile exploration loop 🧭 - Unlocking new tiles is genuinely fun, and it gives you a clear goal every time you open the app.
  • Fair hero system 🎯 - Compared to Last Shelter, getting and upgrading heroes here feels less like pulling teeth, and you can build a decent team without spending.

Cons

  • In app purchases can be pushy 💸 - The shop pops up often, and some bundles are tempting enough that you might spend more than you planned, especially compared to Last Shelter's more subtle approach.
  • Ads are present 📺 - They are mostly optional, but the prompts show up a lot, and it breaks the flow when you just want to clear tiles.
  • Less combat depth than rivals ⚔️ - State of Survival has richer battle mechanics, and Tiles Survive! feels a bit thin once you get past the early game.
  • Repetitive late game 🔁 - After a while, the tile clearing starts to feel samey, and you might find yourself wishing for more variety like Last Shelter offers.
